I am Ronete Cohen.
I am an experienced psychotherapist and online counsellor with clients of diverse nationalities, cultural backgrounds, beliefs, sexual orientations and gender identities. I am an expert in online therapy with clients who are trapped in abusive relationships and/or resort to self-damaging behaviours. I am an affirmative gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender psychotherapist. I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). I am a member of NIP (the Dutch Institute of Psychologists / Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen).
I have written a chapter for a book on psychotherapy,'Using Intensive Experiential-Dynamic Psychotherapy to Treat an Underachieving Gifted Adolescent', in 'The Theory and Practice of Experiential Dynamic Therapy' (edited by Ferruccio Osimo and Mark Stein. Published by Karnac in May 2012). My chapter illustrates how EDT can be adapted for use with adolescents in general, and, specifically, underachieving gifted adolescents. I am Diva magazine’s former advice columnist. I wrote the Life Expert column from 2005 to 2009. I answered readers’ questions on sexuality and coming out, offered relationship advice and more.
I am Bi Social Network's psychologist and columnist. I advise bisexuals and others in Bi Life with Ronete Cohen.
I am a campaigner against the pseudo “cure” for homosexuality, reorientation treatment.
I am an expert on LGBT issues. Read The In-Crowd: Women in the Closet, Jewish paper's 'gay cure' column provokes anger, and Being Bisexual in the Netherlands.
