I am Ronete Cohen(c) daan stringer I am a qualified psychologist (BA and MA in Psychology) with my own face-to-face counselling and psychotherapy practice as well as my online counselling and psychotherapy practice.

Affect Phobia Therapy

I am an experienced psychotherapist and online counsellor with clients of diverse nationalities, cultural backgrounds, beliefs, sexual orientations and gender identities.  I am an expert in online therapy with clients who are trapped in abusive relationships and/or resort to self-damaging behaviours. I am an affirmative gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender psychotherapist. I am open-minded and non-judgmental about alternative lifestyles (e.g. polyamory, kink). I am the only trained APT therapist in the UK.

 

I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I am a member of NIP (the Dutch Institute of Psychologists / Nederlands Instituut van Psychologen). I am a member of IEDTA (the International Experiential Therapy Association). I am a member of EDT-UK.

 

I have written a chapter for a book on psychotherapy,'Using Intensive Experiential-Dynamic Psychotherapy to Treat an Underachieving Gifted Adolescent', in 'Theory and Practice of Experiential Dynamic Therapy' (edited by Ferruccio Osimo and Mark Stein. Published by Karnac in July 2012).  My chapter illustrates how EDT can be adapted for use with adolescents in general, and, specifically, underachieving gifted adolescents.

I am Diva magazine’s former advice columnist. I wrote the Life Expert column from 2005 to 2009. I answered readers’ questions on sexuality and coming out, offered relationship advice and more.

I am Z/Z This=Them’s advice columnist. I have been writing the Uit de Praktijk column since 2006. I answer readers’ questions on sexuality and coming out, offer relationship advice and more.

 

I am Bi Social Network's (the site went offline in May 2012) former psychologist and columnist. I advised bisexuals and others in Bi Life with Ronete Cohen.

 

I was a facilitator of the workshop 'Creating a Safe Workplace for Bisexual Employees', at the Workplace Pride annual international conference that took place in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, on June 15th 2012. It was the first time in its history that the conference programme contained a session focused on bisexuals at the workplace. The workshop explored the unique experiences and challenges faced by bisexuals in the workplace. Workshop facilitators were: Wilma Ruis (moderator), Ronete Cohen, Erwin Heyl and Hilde Vossen.

 

I was a speaker at the international L-Women at Work conference in Amsterdam, on November 9th 2012, speaking about bisexual women in my B-Women at Work talk.

 

I am a consultant and advisor on youth and LGBT mental health. I am an advisor for Scarleteen (the US independent, grassroots sexuality education and support organisation and website), and have advised the Dutch expertise center on sexuality (Rutgers WPF) on LGBT youth. I am listed on The Women's Room, the UK database of experts.

 

I am a campaigner against the pseudo “cure” for homosexuality, reorientation treatment.
I am an advocate of affirmative LGBT counselling that promotes self-acceptance.
